INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CREATE A NEW UNIX DRIVER DISK.
STEP 1. As you must have already done you need to PKUNZIP the file
CRE8UNIX.EXE. This is a self extracting file. You need to copy the file
CRE8UNIX.EXE to an empty sub-directory on your hard disk. Once it is
copied, change to the directory where you copied it and type CRE8UNIX
<Enter>. The file will self-extract. The following files will be in your
sub-directory:
CRE8UNIX.EXE - The file you downloaded from the BBS.
DISKDUP.EXE - Self extracting version of disk dupe software.
UNIXDRVR.AWS - Source file for the for the program DISKDUPE.EXE
README.1ST - This text help file.
STEP 2. Once that is finished type DISKDUP <Enter>. This will cause a self
extraction for the DISKDUPE files. After the extraction the following files
will be added to your sub-directory:
DISKDUPE.DAT - Data files required by DISKDUPE.EXE
DISKDUPE.DOC - Documentation for DISKDUPE.EXE
DISKDUPE.EXE - Executable file to create a new driver disk.
HELPME.EXE - An easy way to output a manual to your printer.
STEP 3. Type DISKDUPE <Enter>. An opening screen giving credit for the
program is displayed. Press any key to continue.
STEP 4. A menu will appear. The first thing you must do is to set up your
system. Press #5 to accomplish this. 1-4 refer to floppy drives only. Tell
the software what kind of drives you actually have in your system. For
example if drive A: is a 1.2 Meg. drive but you want to make 360 KB
floppys, still let the software know it is actually a 1.2 Meg. drive.
STEP 5. Selection 5 should be set to format ALWAYS. The other items should
be left to default.
STEP 6. Press the <Enter> key to return to the main menu.
STEP 7. Set the number of copies to the amount of driver disks you want.
STEP 8. Select SOURCE. At the Source ? prompt type UNIXDRVR.AWS.
STEP 9. Set the DESTINATION to the drive in your system that will support
5 1/4" diskettes.
STEP 10. Set the copy type to 360 KB. All of our distribution disks are 360
KB format. If this is not done the diskette will not operate properly.
Once all of the changes have been made press the <Enter> key to start the
operation. Verify that you have a diskette in the drive you specified.
After you have completed the copy the diskette will be UNIX readable but
not DOS readable. Follow the instructions in your manual for building the
UNIX system.
